What is Evident?

Your coding agent, everywhere your team works. Run it on your own machine; reach it from Slack, GitHub, email and the web.

Evident turns your machine — where your code, secrets, and tools already live — into a runner you can reach from anywhere. You chat with it from the web, or @mention it from Slack or GitHub like a teammate. Evident never runs your code and keeps no copy of your repository; the chat surface is proxied through Evident to reach your machine, and the messages you send are stored so they can be queued while your runner is offline.

What you get

• Your environment, not someone else's compute. The runner runs locally, so it has your repositories, your VPN access, your installed tools, and your credentials — without uploading any of it.
• A real chat from the web. Messages stream back in real time, and questions or approvals are handled right there in the chat.
• Your whole team, no setup on their side. Everything you create belongs to your team. Once a developer connects Slack or GitHub, teammates who never open a terminal — PMs, support, ops — can reach the runner from there.

Your runner runs on your machine, and Evident makes it reachable. Running it on your own machine is the self-serve path; deploying one into your own AWS account is in preview.

One piece of vocabulary the rest of these docs assume: the runner is the machine you create and connect; an OpenCode agent is a persona that works inside it, and is what you actually chat with. See Core concepts for the rest.
