Terms of Service

Last updated: August 21, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Evident (the "Service"), operated by the Evident team ("Evident", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, connecting a runner, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you are agreeing on that organization's behalf and confirming you have authority to do so.

1. What Evident is

Evident connects a coding runner that you install and operate on your own machine (or your own AWS account, in preview) to the places your team already works — Slack, GitHub, email, scheduled runs, and a web chat. Evident never runs your code. Your repository, your secrets and your tools stay on the machine you run the runner on — nothing executes on Evident's servers, and Evident keeps no copy of your repository. Chat traffic is proxied through Evident to reach your machine, and the messages you send are stored so they can be queued while your runner is offline. See our Privacy Policy for how that message data is handled and retained.

2. Accounts

You need an account, authenticated through our identity provider, to use the Service. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your credentials secure, and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away at support@evident.run if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Your content and your runner

You keep ownership of your code, your repositories, and anything else you run the Service against. You're responsible for having the right to use and share any content you send through a connector, and for complying with the terms of any third-party platform you connect (Slack, GitHub, your email provider, or a model provider). Model usage bills to the provider account whose credentials you connect — Evident does not charge you for the underlying model calls a runner makes.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal, or that infringes someone else's rights;
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with the security of the Service or the tunnel that connects a runner to it;
  • Reverse-engineer the Service beyond what applicable law permits;
  • Use a connector (Slack, GitHub, email, or a webhook) to send spam, malware, or abusive content; or
  • Resell or provide the Service to third parties without our written agreement.

5. Plans, billing, and trials

Paid plans, their features, and current pricing are described on our Pricing page, which is part of these Terms. Trials convert to a paid plan, or stop, as described there. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change plan pricing or features going forward, and will give you reasonable notice before a change takes effect on your account.

6. Third-party connectors

The Service works by connecting to platforms you already use — Slack, GitHub, email, and a model provider of your choice. Those platforms have their own terms and their own availability, entirely outside our control. If one of them is unavailable, slow, or changes its API, the corresponding part of the Service may be affected, and we're not responsible for that platform's own conduct or downtime.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Service and disconnect your runner at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably possible. Our Privacy Policy describes what happens to your data after termination.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a runner will always be reachable — a runner you operate can go offline for reasons outside our control. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Evident is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to let you know before they take effect.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law applicable to Evident's place of business, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, unless a mandatory law in your jurisdiction says otherwise.
